About Us

Who we are

ConnectFirst Academy is an alternative provision school based at The Old Rectory, Wolverhampton, opposite Molineux Stadium. We support young people who need a different approach to learning — helping them reconnect with themselves, with learning and with their future.

Our Mission

Empowering every young person to succeed

We believe every young person deserves access to a quality education, whatever their circumstances. Our mission is to provide structured, relationship-led education that helps learners overcome barriers, build resilience and develop the skills they need for a positive future.

We combine academic achievement with personal development, vocational opportunity and strong pastoral care. Qualifications matter — and so do confidence, character, wellbeing and preparation for adult life.

We work closely with mainstream schools, local authorities and families to ensure every young person receives the support they need to thrive.

Why we exist

Success begins with connection

Some young people arrive having experienced barriers to learning, challenges in their personal lives or disruption to their education. Our role is to help them reconnect — with themselves, with learning and with their aspirations.

When learners understand who they are, recognise their strengths and believe in their potential, they become more confident, resilient and motivated. From this foundation, meaningful learning takes place and positive futures begin to take shape.

Our FIRST Values

The values that shape everything we do

The FIRST Values guide how we learn, work and grow together at ConnectFirst Academy.

F

Future Focused

We encourage ambition, aspiration and purpose, helping learners and staff prepare for successful futures through education, personal growth and lifelong learning.

I

Inclusion

Everyone belongs. We value diversity, celebrate individuality and ensure every member of our community feels respected, supported and able to succeed.

R

Resilience

We develop confidence, perseverance and adaptability, encouraging everyone to learn from challenges and keep moving forward with determination.

S

Success

We celebrate progress, effort and achievement, supporting every learner and colleague to achieve their personal best.

T

Trust

Trust is the foundation of everything we do. We build it through honesty, consistency, accountability, respect and genuine care for one another.

Our Philosophy

A trauma-informed, relationship-led approach

We understand that many young people in alternative provision have experienced challenges that affect their ability to learn and engage. Our approach meets them where they are.

Behaviour is communication

Many of our learners have faced adverse experiences that affect how they learn and engage. Rather than simply responding to behaviour, we seek to understand the need behind it, with staff trained in trauma-informed and therapeutic practice.

Relationships come first

Strong, trusting relationships are the foundation of progress. Small groups and consistent key adults help young people feel safe, known and supported so they can re-engage with learning.

Every step is celebrated

We recognise progress in all its forms. Building confidence and self-belief is essential to helping young people believe in their potential and aim higher.

Who we support

We partner with schools, local authorities and families to find the right pathway for each young person. Our setting is designed for learners who benefit from a smaller, more supportive environment.

If you are a school or local authority considering a referral, we will guide you through every step and work closely with families for a smooth, supportive transition.
